Vanuatu, Heaven has a Backstory
Vanuatu Archipelago, South Pacific. It is a paradise for those who don’t want to pay taxes. There is no tax in Vanuatu and the country is on the OECD’s gray list for tax evasion. It is also a paradise for investors looking for pristine beaches to set up luxury hotels. It is a country where more than 80% of the population never, or almost never, sees the color of money.
A people who live, however, happy, using ancestral methods of exchange and barter of food and symbolic objects. Billions of dollars on one side, pigs’ teeth on the other. A tale at the time at the heart of the global crisis.
